Pet Emergency & Specialty Center East County is now hiring -Veterinary Assistants and Technicians to join us! -
-
We are a -24 hour -Emergency and multi-specialty veterinary hospital in La Mesa with supportive leadership, structured training, and opportunities for growth! -

Schedule: -
Full time, Day or Swing Shifts in the Emergency/Critical Care Department. -
A regular Saturday or Sunday shift will be required as we are 24 hour hospital. -

Our ideal applicants will -hold or -be actively working towards their CA RVT license. - -

Pay and benefits: -$18 - $29/hr -depending on experience and skillset, + shift differentials. - -

What are some of the -core skills we are looking for you to have -that we can help you build upon? -

• Proficient in venipuncture for dogs and cats - -
• Proficient in IV catheter placement -
• Proficient in restraint -and safe animal handling -
• Perform thoracic and abdominal radiographs for dogs and cats -
• Knowledge of triage and common emergency cases -
• Ability to obtain and understanding of normal vital signs for dogs and cats. -
• Knowledge and training in RECOVER CPR protocols
• Solid understanding of medical terminology and pharmacology
• Set up patients for hospitalization and assist the Doctors and -teammates -with hospitalized patient care -from post operative recovery to critically ill patients. - -
• Doppler blood pressure -
• Exceptional communication skills with -Doctors, teammates and clients. -
• Fill medications as prescribed by Veterinarian. - -
• Maintain lab flow sheets for patients -
• Run in house lab work -eg. -CBC, Chemistries, blood gases, -coags, snap tests among others. -
• Restock, clean and maintain clean and safe hospital environment. - -
• Set up and clean up for multiple emergency procedures. - -
• Anesthetic monitoring experience around -eg. -Foreign body surgery, laceration repairs, urethral obstruction. - -
• Exposure to handling and care for exotic species that come through our hospital. - - -Interested in learning and growing in an emergency and multi-specialty environment? -
