POSITION : EXPORT OPERATIONS MANAGER AIR & OCEAN
Location : Artesia, CA (we will be relocating our office to Long
Beach, CA from August 2024)
Work Hours : 08:30 am to 05:30 am through Mondays to Fridays
(overtime may be required when needed)
Salary : Commensurate with experience
Job Type : Full-Time / In-Office
Company : International Freight Forwarder / NVOCC
Manage, operate and oversee the export department to ensure the
movement of freight via both air and ocean out of the country, in
accordance with organizational policy and procedure, and to comply
with relevant local, country and international law and processes.
Position requires an energetic, customer service driven candidate
with continuous emphasis on bottom line results. Maintain the
business flow of the export department. Ensure all levels of
compliance are met on the export process. Supervise the staff to
make sure they are using all the tools available to achieve
financial goals of the department. Oversee the usage of
vendors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manage and further develop efficient and effective flow of work to
attain optimum efficiency and productivity of department.
Identify the existence and cause of problems and solutions to
correct them.
Manage communication with export related authorities, customers,
vendors and partners in all relevant countries as necessary to
ensure efficient, positive and lawful relations, support and
activities.
Must have knowledge and understanding of the Export Regulations or
other government agency regulations that govern exports.
Must have knowledge and understanding of TSA regulations.
Strong leadership skills
Work with other departments in order to establish and maintain
effective and relevant export activities and support in relation to
the organizations operating functions.
Initiates, promotes, supports and implements change in order to
increase organizational effectiveness.
Make sound decisions based on analysis, experience and good
judgment.
Ensure staff has the training and resources necessary to perform
their jobs.
Negotiate with local carriers on spot pricing, and issue rate
quotes.
Provides quotes for internal and external clients.
Ensure all billings are completed before month end closing.
Handle all shipments with compliance needs.
Audit export files for compliance and business process.
Audit export files for profitability.
Handle processing of all dangerous goods shipments

Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Excellent written and verbal skills
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines
Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently
Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance with export rules and
regulations
Able to interact positively and effectively with co-workers,
subordinates and supervisors
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 7 years of relevant air and ocean export operations and
freight forwarding experience.
Minimum 3 years supervisory/managerial experience.
Knowledge of procedures for international and domestic freight,
trucking and warehouse serviceDangerous Goods awareness.
Cargowise experience a plus
Authorized to work in the US for any employers
